DELICIOUS.

Lets take a look at men's fashion imagery that is competing with the woman's dominated fashion scene. After all...menmakefashiontoo......
This beautiful image is manly, haunting and modern. He almost looks like a male Abby Lee Kershaw. The sexy alligator skin glove, with a hint of hair and the snipped thumb is so hot i can hardly stand it.
This is reminiscent of my post last month of the models standing on the cement wall all in shades of red. The shattered light creating angles on his body and exposing the hued stripes is magic. I also love his solid eyebrows and block coloured outfit. Again the hint of hair on his leg is very sexy.
The placement of his hands is almost a small sign of hurt implying that the echidna spikes are growing out his back - very black swan - if it was a male lead in the film. Pushing through the knit is a great juxtaposition.
This is stunning. I'm not adverse at a bit of photo shopping. This is reminiscent of this Stella McCartney's campaign from Spring Summer 2009. I love it.
I love to see menswear being pushed. The skeleton rib print on the tank, and the leg bone body art is hot - and those gold bone shoes are amazing. Off set this will a fur shrug, sheer striped shorts and a metal head piece and this is a look not to be messed with....lets add a fab ring too just to complete it. DELICIOUS.

DALI & RODARTE

Continuing my searching for inspiring artists as I finalise my latest collection I cant get past the modern genius of Salvador Dali. The above photograph is purely magical and if we consider the time in which it was made - ground breaking. Stay tuned for the Dali shoe for Fall Winter.
When considering colours you look at trends, you look at pantones, images, people on the street, tacky street signs, food - anything really. The harmony in the above painting is truely beautiful...maybe Rodarte saw this too when designing Fall Winter...

HUARUCHE

Last night I saw these great shoes on a japanese dude...they reminded me of my huaruche shoes from Spring Summer...

MISSONI CAMPAIGN

I just love this MISSONI campaign from last Fall/Winter.
The movement in the image, but the calm stillness of the model. Also the fabrics and the textures and patterns are heaven.

While fluttering around on the internet, my friend Stefania (of ornamenta jewellery check out www.ornamenta-mto.com you will thank me!) gave me the name of a fantastic website. Great for inspirational images from artists around the world across time. (www.butdoesitfloat.com - there is a link in the sights that inspire.) I came across these photographs and they reminded me of the MISSONI campaign - how do I do something like this for a shoe campaign????
Beautiful fashion images....

Pinking sheers manicure...amazing...

BILL GIBB

For those of you who already know of him - lucky you - and for those who dont, let me introduce you to Bill Gibb. Gibb was a Scottish fashion designer, big in the UK in the 70's and 80's until he died in 1988 (at only 43!)
His work is very Biba esq. as was the HUGE trend in that era. You can see influences of his work today in brands like Anna Sui, Kenzo and Etro.I love his playful use of pattern, colour and proportion. Check it out.

I'm getting quite influenced by artists while working on my next range. The combination of colours, techniques and construction of art. The way different minds put different elements together. Different mediums. Spending time swimming in the minds of people and how an artist will take a canvas, a camera, a tube of paint, a feather a piece of cloth and how they then interpret that into their own creation. Nothing new about the concept, but when looking at polar mediums and styles it makes you open up your own mind to the possibilities when you create.

Saturday saw the official soft launch of MICHAEL HOCKEY. A wonderful time was had by all with the most popular style purchased being the sexy saffron soft suede boot as seen in previous posts....these boys have style!
And so the work begins on the Winter collection, having just arrived back in Indonesia today.
In the meantime, here is another style from our Summer collection...the barracuda loafter, made from distressed leather....ENJOY!
