On my world tour of....well, Bali...I have noticed that fashions are pretty standard.
For the guys - Bintang singlets.
For the girls - ill fitting sun dress'

But there are some diamonds in the rough...for instance this Japanese couple - with matching outfits...
His and hers cut shorts...but the same drop armhole loose tank with hooded cowl...very cute.
In another arena, I was fortunate enough to be at Balijoe for the Rihanna look alike competition. The winner receives a flight and tickets to Perth to see her in concert. So needless to say they went all out...most of them making their own costumes, shaving and dying their hair and wearing green contacts. For someone was was not really a Rihanna fan, they certainly turned me around. I ended up down loading 2 of her songs the next day as I couldn't get them out of my head.

As i've mentioned I have a recent obsession with ID bracelets...As i knew I was leaving my job and was due a present, i very unsubtly told the team what I wanted...I just didn't know what I wanted written on it...the result, thanks to Ms Gemma and the modern internet could'nt be more perfect. A quote that is not only totally apt, but from one of my idols...Yves Saint Laurent..."Fashion fades...style is eternal." Thank you my pretties. xxx

I am about to embark on a new adventure.
An adventure that is open ended.
I have no idea what is install for me; all I know is what I am leaving behind. What helped me make my life change was the realisation that I didn't have allot to leave behind. The key things in life they say are Love,Health and Work. All the other things fit into these categories...family, friends, money etc.
I don't have a partner, I have my health and my work was not full filling me creatively. I can take my health with me!.... so there was nothing to leave behind....hence, I'm going on an adventure to find my creative soul once more and the thing that makes my work, me.

On the way I will come across inspirational things, people, scenes that will help me to realise once more why the world needs to wear "MICHAEL"....one such person is Gary Graham...his work makes me remember all the things I love about fashion. Its not the parties - I hate them. Its not the magazines - although i love them. Its not the shows - though i love them too...at the heart of it, its about the art form. The genius of taking a piece of cloth and a body and making something that some wants to wear. That they will put on and feel special. Feel them. Feel divine....
These are some snaps of Gary Grahams Spring/Summer 11 collection...enjoy

After much anticipation...I would like to introduce you to Henry, my new best friend forever.

In other news the October issue of French Vogue has a pick of these two smoking hot brothers -Adrien and Anthony Maselli who are a Parisian DJ duo and general boys about town playing electro pop from the 60's, 70's and 80's...where is my plane ticket - seriously!
So Swiz watch company swatch is about to launch a new line of men's directed watches entitled the "New Gent" collection.

In a bit of genius they have asked leading style vehicles to interpret the brief and come up with a campaign. People are then directed to their website and asked to vote for the best campaign....so I did...

This Wallpaper* submission is H-O-T conjuring up some nice 80's Bruce Springsteen and George Michael memories....other submissions are from i-D, L'Official, style.com, 1626 and Vice....just to name a few...

I forgot to mention that the below image of the Wallpaper campaign - the styling - amazing - and suddenly I remembered a fantastic ID bracelet I bought in Paris about 6 years ago at a flee market. I'll post images shortly -but basically I'm now going to incorporate one into my wardrobe on a regular basis....

I'd like to take a moment to talk about Stefano Pilati... by all accounts and from what I saw on the modern interweb as my invitations to the Paris shows keep getting lost! Australia Post! Stefano's Latest collection for the glorious house of Yves Saint Laurent was just about as YSL as you can get without the man designing it himself from the grave

Case & point....hello back.. hot!

And how dapper does the man look taking his bow....casual, smart, confident and very very sexy...

I was extremely lucky this year in June to be in Paris and be able to attend the YSL retrospective at the Petit Palais. An amazing exhibition show casing some 700 garments over YSL's career...the highlight for me was the floor to ceiling wall of mannequins in his seasonal interpretation of the simple black tuxedo. Black mannequins on a black wall all dress in black with random flashing single fairy lights to break the intimidation...amazing.

While I'm on about the Paris shows and my disappointment of missing them again this year, i want to spare another moment to rave about the genius that is Alber Elbaz at Lanvin...I want to be a girl to wear these masterpieces....then i see the menswear collection that Lucas Ossendrijver has created this season and I'm happy I didn't go through with it.
His draped aesthetic that celebrates women's shapes and their elegance evolves season after season and keeps us wanting more. The addition of body con horizontal pleating (a nod to Izzey Miyake) this season keeps this brand moving, without straying from Elbaz's vision of Lanvin's eponymous label.

Check this guy Kobi Levi's blog. He's a shoes designer from Jerusalem...he has his own menswear line and has does freelance work and collaborations for Israeli and International companies...
"In my artistic footwear design the shoe is my canvas. The trigger to create a new piece comes when an idea, concept and/or an image comesto mind. The combination of the image and footwear creates a new hybrid and the design/concept comes to life. The piece is a wearable sculpture..."

Unfortunately I missed out on yesterdays outfit which was a total winner...today's is a little more conservative, but again its all about the shoes...my lil' Pocahontas numbers...and my new washed linen shirt....and I continue my addiction to poo catchers...

FCKH8 - Straight Talk on Gay Marriage (MIRROR)

As well as being a total fashion diva - obviously. i also have a social conscience...i love this campaign on a subject close to my heart - well theoretically - i'm not getting married - actually i'm single - BUT! I want all those other faggots out there in a relationship to have the opportunity (notice how i said faggot? I'm allowed to because i am a "gay man")

After roving through the endless amount of blogs present on the internet, featuring pretty young things, ex-model, or fashion devotee's there were are few underlying similarities.
1. All but 1 I found were by women for women.
2. All were scattered with designer brands, that some how i dont know how fashion people afford.
3. They were kind of self indulgent...

In saying all that, I still get pleasure from reading them. But men make fashion too...

Stay tuned for updates, probably not daily but i'll see, of things, people, designers, fashion that inspire me...and that i think are all that - ok, so my blog is going to be like everyone elses, but men will get a look in. x
